01When is Hedingham Castle open to visitors?+
General admission runs on selected dates around the wedding and events programme. Always check the current dated ticket calendar before travelling.
02Do I need to pre-book?+
General admission may be available at the gate, but advance booking is recommended. Event days can sell out and should be booked ahead.
03How much is general admission?+
Current standard prices are £11 adult, £10 concession, £9 junior age 4–17, with under 4s free. Family-ticket options are also available.
04Is parking free?+
Yes, on-site parking is free for visitors, event guests and wedding guests.
05Can I bring a dog?+
Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds on eligible general-admission days, but not inside the Castle. Dogs are not normally allowed on event days.
06Is the Castle wheelchair accessible?+
The Tapestry Room on the ground floor has ramped access. Upper floors involve substantial historic stairs. The grounds have accessible routes, though woodland paths can be uneven and weather-dependent.
07Can we have our whole wedding at Hedingham?+
Yes. Hedingham is licensed for ceremonies and offers Castle or Georgian House/Ballroom Marquee reception routes. One wedding is hosted per day.
08How many wedding guests can we invite?+
The current maximum ceremony capacity is 130; Castle receptions are up to 70; Ballroom Marquee receptions are up to 150 with capacity for an additional 50 evening guests.
09Is the registrar included?+
No. Couples arrange the registrar separately through Essex Registration Service.
10Can we use our own wedding caterer?+
Hedingham currently works with two approved catering partners. External wedding catering is not normally permitted other than the wedding cake, except within approved dry-hire arrangements.
11Can we stay overnight?+
Yes. Options include the Royal Chamber, Castle Bothy, Medieval Lodge and other estate accommodation, with wider combinations available for exclusive estate hire.
12Can the Castle be hired for filming?+
Yes. Film, television and photography hire is available with production spaces, power, Wi-Fi, unit-base hardstanding and accommodation options.
