Historic Houses members
Free normal open-day admission with a valid card, but a dated ticket should still be booked to help manage numbers.

Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds on general-admission days, but not inside the Keep. Event-day rules can differ.
Castle Tearoom
Hot and cold drinks, cakes and light snacks are served on the first floor of the Keep. Access is by stairs only.
Accessibility
Most grounds can be explored by wheelchair or pushchair. Only the Castle ground floor is step-free; upper floors require stairs.

Before you commit.
01Do I have to book in advance?+
General admission can usually be bought at the gate by card, but advance booking is recommended. Ticketed event days can sell out and should be booked ahead.
02Can I bring a picnic?+
Yes. Picnic benches are available near the Keep and there are plenty of places around the grounds to stop.
03Is the Castle accessible?+
The Tapestry Room on the ground floor has ramped access. The upper Castle floors require external and spiral stairs, so they are not wheelchair or pram accessible.
